Politics, illegal drugs possible motives behind death of SK president in Laguna

Authorities are now looking at two possible angles in the assassination of the Lumban Laguna’s 26-year-old Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) President on Tuesday afternoon.

Jose Marie Peña, chief of police of Lumban Municipal Police Station.

In an interview with ABS-CBN News, Peña said that two culprits entered the house of victim Renzo Matienzo in Barangay Maytalang 1, while two others just waited outside. The information is also based on the testimony of those who witnessed the crime, he said.

After the crime, the group of perpetrators immediately fled.

Authorities are still analyzing CCTV footage of the area to find out where they passed and if there are any identities of the suspects.

The Sangguniang Kabataan of Siniloan, Laguna condemned the killing of Matienzo.

In their social media post, they sympathized and demanded justice for the slain SK President.

Lumban Police is asking for the help of the public to report to their station in case there is information that can help in the case.
