Authorities arrested a delivery boy after he allegedly raped a mentally ill woman in Barangay Pitogo, Makati City. The man defended that the victim did not object when he asked for it and he also did not know that the woman had a mental condition.
In a report by Mai Bermudez on GMA News TV “Balitanghali” on Tuesday, the suspect was identified as Gerald Egot, 29-years-old.
Authorities said the victim was on her way home on Monday night when the suspect allegedly took her away.
“Lumabas ‘yung babae, ‘yung special child. ‘Pag labas, tinawag niya tapos naglakad sila papunta doon sa kabilang barangay kalapit ng barangay namin… Noong nagawa na niya ‘yung gusto niya doon sa babae, sumakay sila ng tricycle pabalik,” said Romeo Ogaña, officer in charge of Brgy. Pitogo.
(The woman, the special child, came out. When she came out, he called, and then they walked to the other barangay near our barangay. When he had done what he wanted with the woman, they rode the tricycle back.)
Egot defended that he only found out that the victim had a mental condition when they faced each other in the barangay.
The suspect said the woman did not show any resistance when he called her.
“Humihingi po ako ng dispensa po. Hindi ko naman po alam na maysakit ‘yung bata. Sana po patawarin niyo ako,” said Egot.

The victim’s family refused to appear on GMA News, but they will file a complaint against the suspect.
According to Republic Act 8353 o The Anti-Rape Law of 1997, rape is committed:
1) By a man who shall have carnal knowledge of a woman under any of the following circumstances:
a) Through force, threat, or intimidation;
b) When the offended party is deprived of reason or otherwise unconscious;
c) By means of fraudulent machination or grave abuse of authority; and
d) When the offended party is under twelve (12) years of age or is demented, even though none of the circumstances mentioned above be present.
2) By any person who, under any of the circumstances mentioned in paragraph 1 hereof, shall commit an act of sexual assault by inserting his penis into another person’s mouth or anal orifice, or any instrument or object, into the genital or anal orifice of another person.
