Matches, lighters banned in MRT

The MRT-3 management now enforces strict security throughout its line.

This is in line with the announcement released by the Office for Transportation Security to ensure that the security plan of transport operators in the country is strictly implemented after several bombing incidents were reported in Mindanao.

All passengers and staff undergo thorough baggage checking and screening and inspection and control of prohibited equipment before entering the stations.

There are also K-9 units from the Philippine Coast Guard at North Avenue, Quezon Avenue, and Cubao stations. This is done throughout the MRT-3 station.

It is strictly forbidden to enter any kind of weapon or ammunition inside, as well as a knife or any sharp and sharp objects; explosives and incendiary substances; flammable and toxic gases and chemicals; and hazardous materials and chemicals such as pesticides, muriatic acid, liquid hydrogen, and others.

The management also asked the passengers to immediately notify the security personnel and marshals if they see any suspicious objects or people with suspicious behavior.

Security marshals have the authority not to board or drop off passengers who violate the enforced line rules.

The MRT-3 management will continue to distribute free rides to passengers, which will last until the end of June.

18M passengers ride MRT-3 for free

According to the management of Metro Rail Transit Line 3, more than 18 million passengers have ridden for free on MRT-3 since March 28, the start of the Free Ride program.

More than 8 million rode the MRT-3 during the first free ride pass from March to April.

It rose to more than 9.5 million users last May.

The MRT completed its rehabilitation in December 2021, where they upgraded various equipment and new wagons.

Meanwhile, their leadership also issued a statement on the long queue that occurred the other day at the Ortigas Avenue station.

This is said to be due to a broken escalator that was not made available to the public for their safety.

The stairs were narrow, so there was a build-up of passengers.
