Booklovers no longer need to go out to buy preloved and affordable books as BookSale announced it is now selling only.
Shakira Sison, whose family owns BookSale, confirmed the good news in Tweet. The award-winning essayist and poet encouraged her followers to support the bookstore and their employees.
“Yes it’s true that BookSale is online,” Sison said. “And my dear father is asking for your support to help keep his employees afloat, most of whom have been with him for decades. They are struggling like everyone else.”
For 30 years, BookSale has been the go-to shop for anyone looking for well-preserved and budget-friendly books.
But with the on-going pandemic, most establishments, including BookSale’s 82 stores nationwide, were also hit by the COVID-19 crisis.
The prices of the books currently offered at BookSale online is from P185 to P300 per book. Those for sale online include Life of Pi (softcover) by Yann Martel for P185, Insurgent by Veronica Roth (hardcover) for P270, and a hardcover Marvel Cinematic Universe Story Book Collection (6 books in 1) for just P425.
Currently, there are 134 products under the BookSale’s Shoppee account, which was established last month. The bookstore continues to build up its inventory so customers could expect more books to be available online. Sections include computers and technology, history and biographies, fiction, on-fiction, comic books, and art and poetry.

BookSale now sells books online
Book Sale also posted some of its titles online at their official Facebook page.
In April 2018, the bookstore denied rumors that they are already closing or have been sold due to economic reasons.
“Booksale is not closing nor has the company been sold,” it said in a statement posted on Facebook.
“But we just could not raise our prices proportionately, or we’ll be remiss in our corporate mission,” it added.
The company said that it would instead optimize its operations and search for better suppliers.
“Booksale is alive and well and is committed to its corporate mission of making reading affordable as it has done the past 35 years,” Booksale said.
