Add more oranges, lemon, and other citrus fruits in your grocery list. Apple can keep the doctor away, but citrus will give you natural vitamin C for a stronger immune system. And surprise, they can also aid collagen production for lighter, wrinkle-free skin.

2. Own a small indoor plant

Get an indoor plant (time to the plastic one to trash), for it reduces stress level, calms the nervous system, and lower blood pressure. It also increases concentration, improves air quality, and satisfaction.

Clean and sanitize your phone at least once a week. Did you know that our phones have 10 times as much bacteria as most toilet seats? Look for bleach-free cleaning agents to avoid damaging your phone.

4. Keep and play an upbeat playlist

Keep upbeat music handy. Play it loud and blasting to reduce pain during exercise, overcome mood swings, or simply dance it all out.

5. Take a hot bath once in a while

If you had trouble sleeping last year, take a hot bath an hour or two before bedtime to have a better sleep.

6. Be more polite

Take a moment to recall how many people you offended last year. Do you have any posts that garnered many angry reactions? Did you make someone cry? If yes, it’s time to become more polite. Learn to say thank you more, apologize when you’re wrong, try not to get rude to the waiter, and, most of all, learn how to say no.

7. Get a short trip to local museums and art galleries

Watch a theatrical play, attend a concert, and have a quick trip to the museum to help you ward off the blues. Study shows people who have time to appreciate art have a lower risk of developing depression than those who don’t.

8. Eat more blueberries and walnuts.

Try blueberries instead of strawberries and walnuts instead of peanuts for a change next year. Blueberries improve metabolism, lower blood pressure, and blood sugar, while walnuts can reduce LDL or “bad” cholesterol levels. These two are best paired with oatmeal or salad.

9. Learn a new language

Learning a new language has never been easier with the aid of technology today. Not only it will improve your communication skills, but it will also boost your resume.

If you are traveling to a place you’ve never been to, learning the country’s language (just the basics) would be a great help. And you’ll never know, you could get a job as a professional translator.

10. Learn the basics of cooking

You don’t need to be a master chef, but at least you should know how to boil or fry an egg. Cooking is a life and survival skill every human being should possess. Imagine how long you could last if you get stuck on an island, and you don’t know how to cook. So grab your grandma’s cookbook or watch Gordon Ramsay’s Master Class.

11. Play more

We often say if only we could go back to kindergarten and just play all day. Well, the truth is we can! But just the play part. Playing is one of the most excellent sources of relaxation for stressed adults. Play Uno, Jenga, soccer, basketball, and more. And, play with your kids, friends, and loved ones for better relationships.

12. Be kinder to yourself

You can’t give what you don’t have. If you have been hurting people left and right, you might be needing more kindness to yourself. This 2020, respect, love, treat and forgive yourself more.

13. Learn Martial Arts

Enroll a short course in Boxing, Taekwondo, or Karate to learn how to protect yourself. Worst comes to worst; you are the only one who can save you. Kick, punch, and strike more this 2020.

14. Ride a roller coaster

Or bungee jump! Take courage and face your fears.

15. Spend a little more time with the kids

Whether you are a loving member of “Titos” and “Titas” of Manila or a busy parent, give more time to kids next year. These tiny humans could bring out the monster, but they could also revive the young heart in you.
