17-year-old girl raped by 15-year-old boy she met online

A 15-year-old boy who allegedly raped a 17-year-old girl he met on social media has been arrested on Friday in Cebu City.

According to an initial report by Minglanilla Police, the victim under the name “Jenny” went to their station with her brother-in-law to file a rape complaint against the 15-year-old suspect.

In Jenny’s testimony, she and the minor suspect became friends on Facebook on November 13 until they became a couple because of the continuous exchange of chats in FB Messenger. They decided to meet this November 15, personally.

Jenny said the 15-year-old boy brought her to his house at Barangay Poblacion, Ward II, Minglanilla, and it was there that the 17-year-old girl was raped.

The victim told her relatives about the incident. They immediately sought help from the police, and Jenny pointed out the area where she was raped.

In a follow-up operation by the police, the young suspect was arrested at their home and is now in custody.

A 19-year-old teenager was gang-raped by the five arrested suspects, including a 16-year-old boy last night in Meycauayan City, Bulacan.

In the report of P / Lt. Col. Aquino Olivar, chief of the Meycauayan City police, authorities identified the five suspects as Renz Justin Pineda, 19; Jan Fulgencio, 18; Marvin Tulgencio, 20; Joven Osias, 19, and a 16-year-old named “Boy.”

During the initial investigation, the young suspects offered the victim “Glenda” to have a drinking session with them.

When the victim got drunk, instead of bringing her home, the suspects brought Glenda to an abandoned warehouse in an unidentified barangay where the teenager was gang-raped at around 11:48 pm.

The victim was able to escape while the suspects were asleep. She immediately informed the police, which resulted in the suspects’ quick arrest.

Glenda allegedly knows the suspects, so she trusted and had a drinking session with them.

Graduating student dies while cleaning professor’s backyard

A graduating BS Forestry student died after he got electrocuted while cleaning his professor’s backyard in Brgy Raois, Vigan City, Ilocos Sur last Saturday.

Police have identified the victim as Benedict Gom-uyen, a 20-year-old graduating student of Ilocos Sur Polytechnic College in the town of Sta. Maria.

It was learned that the power cord was hidden in the branches of the tree Gom-uyen was cutting inside the backyard of his teacher, Elena Ato, 56, at around 3:35 pm.

Aside from getting electrocuted, the student fell headfirst from the tree, which caused severe injury in his head.

The responders tried to take Gom-uyen to the Ilocos Sur Gabriela Silang General Hospital, but the doctors declared him dead.

The authority assesses the responsibility of the teacher in the accident to determine if she has legal liability.

Military nurse stabbed to death by cellphone thief

A nurse at a military hospital was killed by a thief who tried to steal her cellphone in Makati City yesterday afternoon.

The victim was identified as 2nd Lt. Jennett Beron Aguilar, 31, a nurse at AFP Medical Center. Aguilar died before arriving at the Makati Hospital for two stab wounds.

According to the report, the victim just got home at Phil. Army Village Homeowners Association Inc. (PAVAHAI) in Brgy. Comembo at 1:30 am.

The military nurse went outside when she heard noises, and there she saw the suspect John Brosas, 19, cons­truction worker who tried to steal her cellphone.

The victim struggled and fought back and was stabbed twice.

Aguilar was immediately rushed to the hospital but did not make it alive.

Brosas was arrested at a vacant lot near the construction site where he worked.

It was discovered that Brosas even cleaned the victim’s car on several occasions where he received money.

The suspect said he only wanted to buy something for his birthday yesterday, so he attempted to steal the victim’s cellphone.

The robbery-homicide case is being prepared against the suspect.

Military vs. Abu Sayyaf in Sulu, 8 soldiers injured

Eight soldiers were injured after an encounter with 40 members of the Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) in Patikul, Sulu.

According to a Western Mindanao Command statement, the clash broke out between the Joint Task Force Sulu and Hatib Hajan Sawadjaan’s group and Radullan Sahiron on Thursday.

It is not known how many casualties the Abu Sayyaf Group had because of the encounter with the military in Sulu.

The wounded soldiers are being treated at Camp Teodulfo Bautista Station Hospital in Busbus, Sulu.

WesMinCom Lt. Gen. Cirilito Sobejana saluted the soldiers for their dedication to ensuring the security of the country.

“I salute our gallant soldiers for their bravery and utmost dedication to their sworn duty,” said Sobejana.

Sobejana assured the public that the military would continue to strengthen its operation against terrorists in Sulu and other provinces under WesMinCom‘s control.
