Police kills self by accident while cleaning gun

A police killed himself and injured his brother by accident after his gun fired while he was cleaning it inside his home in Narra town, Palawan, Tuesday night.

Police Lt. Col. Socrates Faltado, spokesman of Mimaropa (Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Palawan) Police identified the victim as Police Corporal Melvin Castillo Rios, 37, assigned in Drug Enforcement Unit (PDEU) in Palawan. Rios’ brother, Roderick, 39, a welder, was rushed to the nearest hospital.

The incident happened at the police’s house at Purok 3, Brgy. Princess Urduja, Narra of the said province. Rios was cleaning his service firearm as his brother watched when the gun fired by accident.

Faltado said the victim was shot in his temple while his brother suffered a gunshot wound to the chin.

The victims were rushed to the hospital, but the cop was declared dead-on-arrival.

The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) reminded the employers about giving their employees the 13th month pay.

In a Radyo Inquirer interview, DOLE Secretary Silvestre Bello III, the 13th month pay was mandated by law, and it should be given to workers before Christmas.

Some employers have already paid half of their employees’ 13th month pay.

Those in government will receive their 13th month pay tomorrow, Friday (Nov. 15).

Even employees who have resigned or been laid off this year are entitled to receive a 13th month pay.

L300 van fell in Benguet ravine, 6 passengers survive

Six people, including a six-year-old child aboard an L-300 van, survived after the vehicle fell into a 50-meter deep ravine Kibungan, Benguet.

The accident happened in Sitio Tigil, Barangay Sagpat, as the van was heading to Baguio city on Tuesday morning.

The six passengers who survived the Benguet ravine accident were identified as Samuel Dolin, 46; Butch Dolin; Susan Landisan, 56; Leomy William; Angelo Landisan, 6; and Dario De Lara, 32.

The six were taken to the Rural Health Unit before being transferred to Benguet General Hospital in La Trinidad.

The Korean film “Miracle in Cell No.7” trailer starring Aga Muhlach and Bela Padilla was released today, Wednesday.

The Filipino adaptation of the hit Korean drama comedy movie in 2013 is set to be shown on Christmas Day, December 25, 2019.

Producer Viva Films shared the first trailer of “Miracle in Cell No.7” in their Facebook account on Wednesday.

Aga Muhlach plays Lito, a mentally impaired father (named Yong-gu in the 2013 film) who was wrongfully charged with sexual assault and murder of a little girl.

Xia Vigor, meanwhile, portrays Yesha (Ye-Seung in the original film) Muhlach’s young daughter, who grew up to be a lawyer, played Bela Padilla. Yesha fights to prove his father’s innocence.

Other veteran actors Joel Torre, JC Santos, Mon Confiado, Jojit Lorenzo, Soliman Cruz, John Arcilla, and Tirso Cruz III also joined the much-awaited movie.

Nuel Naval directed Miracle in Cell No. 7’s remake. The film is their official entry for the Metro Manila Film Festival.

Alleged Italian pedophile arrested in Davao airport

Authorities arrested an alleged Italian pedophile in Davao who was targeting Filipino minors in Mindanao every time he visits the country.

According to the Bureau of Immigration, the suspect was identified as Lorenzo Marchesi, 57.

It was learned that the pedophile asks his minor victims to perform sexual acts in exchange for money.

The alleged Italian pedophile was supposed to leave at the Davao International Airport on November 8.

Marchesi was an undesirable alien following a mission order issued by Immigration Commissioner Jaime Morante against him.

The Italian is involved in several criminal cases, including violations of the expanded anti-trafficking act, cybercrime law, and anti-child abuse act.

The vandalized Lagusnilad post was also shared by the Manila Tourism and Cultural Affairs Bureau on their Facebook accounts.

According to the Manila Tourism and Cultural Affairs Bureau, the situation is frustrating because the local government is doing its best to organize and improve Lagusnilad.

Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) leader Nur Misuari had a meeting with President Rodrigo Duterte last night at the Malacañang Palace to discuss the peace committee creation, according to Senator Bong Go.

In the photos Senator Go sent to the media, it showed the MNLF founder Nur Misuari and Duterte shaking hands and even posing president’s famous “iron fist.”

The two leaders agreed to create a GPH-MNLF coordinating body.

The Malacañang Palace earlier said the GPH-MNLF coordinating committee “will serve as a venue to seek for the cooperation of the MNLF to achieve immediate peace in Sulu by, among others, helping in combating the Abu Sayyaf Group and convincing MNLF relatives to return to the folds of the law.”

The president and Misuari will meet again next month at Duterte’s hometown Davao City.

Senator Go said the meeting was held before Duterte visited the wake of airline business tycoons John Gokongwei Jr. and Lucio “Bong” Tan, Jr.
