Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) leader Nur Misuari had a meeting with President Rodrigo Duterte last night at the Malacañang Palace to discuss the peace committee creation, according to Senator Bong Go.

In the photos Senator Go sent to the media, it showed the MNLF founder Nur Misuari and Duterte shaking hands and even posing president’s famous “iron fist.”

The two leaders agreed to create a GPH-MNLF coordinating body.

The Malacañang Palace earlier said the GPH-MNLF coordinating committee “will serve as a venue to seek for the cooperation of the MNLF to achieve immediate peace in Sulu by, among others, helping in combating the Abu Sayyaf Group and convincing MNLF relatives to return to the folds of the law.”

The president and Misuari will meet again next month at Duterte’s hometown Davao City.

Senator Go said the meeting was held before Duterte visited the wake of airline business tycoons John Gokongwei Jr. and Lucio “Bong” Tan, Jr.
