Customs officials at NAIA arrested a woman after she claimed two parcels containing P1.8 million worth of ecstasy tablets instead of candies at the Central Mail Exchange Center in Pasay City Thursday.
The suspect was identified as Kim Fuentes, a resident of Manansala Tower, Rockwell Drive, Makati City.
Fuentes claimed the two parcels from Leusden, Netherlands, and were declared as “bags of candy.” The illegal drugs were packed among the bags of candies to trick the Customs agents.
Bureau of Customs and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) seized a total of 1,073 ecstasy pills with an estimated street value of P1,824,100 from the suspect.

The ecstasy pills were placed inside four sealed clear plastic bags concealed in caramel candy bags, based on the 100 percent physical examination imposed on the packages.
PDEA’s laboratory tests confirmed the said tablets were ecstasy.
The bureau arrested the suspect while she was claiming the parcels.
Fuentes and the ecstasy tablets were turned over to the PDEA for inquest proceedings for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act (Republic Act No. 9165) in relation to Sections 118 (Prohibited Importation), 1113 (Goods Liable for Seizure and Forfeiture), and 1401 (Unlawful Importation) of Republic Act No. 10863, otherwise known as the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act.
