Carmen Daniel Perzechino, aged 57, has been stripped of his passport and so will be deported as an undocumented alien.

The Bureau of Immigration is preparing to deport an American arrested in Angeles City who is wanted for rape by authorities in Alaska.

Immigration Commissioner Jaime Morente said today (Thursday, April 11) that Carmen Daniel Perzechino, aged 57, was arrested last week by members of the BI’s Fugitive Search Unit (FSU) at his apartment in Angeles City.

Perzechino was apprehended through the mission order issued by the BI chief at the request of the US Embassy in Manila, which informed the Bureau about the alleged rapist’s presence in the country.

Perzechino reportedly fled to the Philippines in February of this year.

Mr Morente said that the passport of the American had already been revoked by the US State Department in order to facilitate his immediate deportation as an undocumented alien.

He is subject of an arrest warrant by a Superior Court in Kenai, Alaska, where he was charged with two counts of sexual assault in the first degree and one count of kidnapping-injury with sexual assault in 2001.

In a statement today, Mr Morente said: “People like him are not welcome in our country. If he did that in the US, then there is a possibility that he might commit the same crime in the Philippines. Criminals like him ought to be barred from ever setting foot in our country.”

Perzechino committed his alleged crime in Sterling, Alaska, on January 20, 2001, when he kidnapped his victim before sexually assaulting and raping her.

How is now detained at the BI’s Bicutan detention centre pending issuance by the BI Board of Commissioners of his summary deportation order.

He will then be placed on the BI’s blacklist and banned from ever returning to the Philippines as befitting his status as “an undesirable alien”.
