A dispute over the waste of their pet dog ended in a father stabbing and killing his own son in Barangay Sta Rita, Olongapo City, Friday afternoon.
According to Police Captain George Francis Molina of Police Station 5 of the Olongapo City Police, the suspect assaulted his son because the pet dog often defecated in his room.
“So, ito pong biktima po natin, hindi po siya nakibo kasi galit kagad yung tatay itong suspect natin, agad pong sinuntok ‘yung asawa ng biktima, ‘di bale manugang. Nung asawa po ng biktima…. ginawa nitong biktima natin, inawat niya yung tatay niya,” said Molina.
(The victim did not respond because his father was already angry. However, the suspect punched the victim’s wife. The victim then tried to stop his father.)
But when the 35-year-old victim, identified as Ronwaldo San Pedro, pulled away, he did not think that the 63-year-old father, Herminigildo San Pedro, was carrying a knife.

“Inundayan na po niya ng saksak itong biktima natin itong anak, unang inundayan niya ito sa braso so sinasangga, itong biktima natin hindi talaga lumalaban sa tatay, so kaya napansin namin itong pagiimbestiga namin marami siyang tama sa braso talagang sinasangga lang niya yung mga saksak sa kanya ng tatay niya,” added Molina.
(The suspect stabbed the victim, his son. The victim defended himself and did not fight his father. According to our investigation, the victim’s injuries were on his arms, meaning he just covering himself using his arms.)
The victim’s partner asked for help from the neighbors, and when the police responded, the father was found at the crime scene, he willingly surrendered and went with them.
It is said that the suspect also voluntarily surrendered the kitchen knife he used to stab the child.
The victim sustained injuries to his arm, neck, and hand, resulting in his death.
Other relatives of the victim are determined to charge the suspect with parricide.
