PNP denies reports of serial killer, white van kidnapping victims

The Philippine National Police (PNP) this Wednesday denied the spreading information that there is a serial killer or a group of criminals riding in a white van behind the incidents of pickpocketing and killing of several people in the country.

In an interview with Unang Balita, PNP spokesperson Police Colonel Jean Fajardo said that the suspects in the past kidnapping incidents are different and have different motives.

Among the reports that alarmed and scared the public was the kidnapping of a 25-year-old man in Taal, Batangas, last week, who was found dead in Sariaya, Quezon, the following day, according to a report by Police Regional Office 4A.

In CCTV footage, the victim can be seen boarding a bus Tuesday at 7:53 p.m. While waiting on the side of the road, several armed suspects in a gray SUV and a gray sedan abducted him.

A 34-year-old man was also abducted by armed men in Batangas and has been missing for more than two weeks.

According to the victim’s live-in girlfriend, they were riding a motorcycle when armed men intercepted them and abducted the victim.

Fajardo said that PNP chief Police General Rodolfo Azurin had instructed the field and regional directors to strengthen security in their jurisdiction, including barangays and malls.

She also called on the public to immediately inform the police of any similar incident they witnessed so that it could be immediately investigated.
