Man killed by girlfriend’s ex-lover in Isabela

A 23-year-old man was stabbed to death by his girlfriend’s former ex-lover and live-in partner due to severe jealousy in Barangay District 3, Cauayan City, Isabela on Saturday night.

According to reports to City Chief of Police Lt. Colonel Gerald Gamboa, the victim Dennis Balmores and girlfriend Princess Pineda were waiting for a tricycle ride after a drinking session at a restaurant when the suspect suddenly arrived.

The suspect,  Jeffrey Santos, 27 years old, then confronted his ex-girlfriend Pineda and the victim Balmores.

A heated argument occurred between the rivals Balmores and Santos, which lead to a commotion and intense fistfight. Santos then pulled out a knife and stabbed Balmores to the different parts of his body in front of Pineda, who was shouting hysterically.

The ex-lover Santos escaped using his motorcycle when bloody Balmores fell in the ground. Pineda rushed his boyfriend to a private hospital where he was declared dead.

Such cases could be considered as a crime of passion or a violent crime, especially homicide, in which the perpetrator commits the act against someone because of sudden strong impulse such as sudden rage rather than as a premeditated crime.
