However, it was not only his grandmother who would be injected but also him.

“For me mas effective po ‘yong ganitong programa kasi mas nae-encourage din specially ‘yong mga senior citizen na may doubt na magpabakuna, may takot,” said Marcelo.

Under the program, the Janssen vaccine will be first given to those who accompanied the senior citizen.

“Kung may makumbinsi ka na senior citizen, kahit di mo kamag-anak, samahan mo siya, basta’t ikaw ay Navoteño, pati ikaw ay babakunahan namin ng Janssen,” said Navotas Mayor Toby Tiangco.

Aside from Navotas, local government units (LGUs) in Metro Manila also have their own methods to encourage senior citizens and other constituents to get vaccinated.

In Makati, senior citizens vaccinated against the disease will be given a P1,000 gift certificate.

About 10,000 doses of Sinovac vaccines were brought to Boracay for workers in the tourism sector.

On Monday, the DOT and local government began vaccinating tourism workers at CityMall Boracay.

“We are glad to report that the 10,000 doses of Sinovac will benefit 6,500 tourism frontliners in the island,” said DOT Secretary Berna Romulo-.

According to the DOT, of the 10,000 doses, 3,000 are reserved for the second dose, while the remaining 7,000 are for the first and second doses of 3,500 tourism workers.

Puyat said the DOT targets to vaccinate all 11,620 tourism workers on Boracay Island in preparation for the upcoming holiday season.

Meanwhile, many LGUs still admit that they do not receive enough vaccines.

Today, the Philippines receives 31,360,700 vaccines.

Some 17.5 million received the first dose, while 6.3 million were considered fully vaccinated.
