Gun, ammunition seized from Australian passenger in Mactan Airport

Airport authorities seized a gun and ammunition from an Australian national passenger at the Mactan-Cebu International Airport (MCIA).

According to the Office for Transportation Security (OTS), X-ray operator Sheena Mae Doydoy and baggage inspector Michael Paul Mendoza, they saw the gun in the passenger’s baggage as it passed the initial security screening checkpoint.

A gun and ten bullets were found inside the Australian national’s green trolley bag.

Passenger Stanley Wayne, an Australian and passenger of the Philippine Airlines flight PR 2880 heading to Manila owned the luggage.

Wayne failed to show pertinent documents for the firearm.

Authorities turned over the gun to the Philippine National Police (PNP) Aviation Security Unit.

Wayne was first placed in police custody and is scheduled to be charged with violating Republic Act No. 10591 of the “Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.”

Handcuffed Nigerian jumps off to Pasig River rescued

Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) officers rescued a Nigerian National who allegedly jumped off the Pasig River.

The Nigerian was found on the Pasig River in Brgy. Hulo, Mandaluyong City.

The foreigner was handcuffed, so the Mandaluyong City Police are now investigating the reason why he jumped in the river.

According to the coast guard’s initial investigation, the Nigerian said he came from the Makati police station.
