Funeral parlor owner, driver shot dead

The owner of a funeral parlor and its driver were killed in a shooting in Sibagat town, authorities said Sunday.

Based on the report of Police Regional Office 13, the victims were identified as Remer Basco, owner of the funeral parlor, and Alden Egagamao, their driver.

A client named Ricci Jane Claros was injured and is in critical condition.

During the police investigation, at around 9 pm on Friday, unidentified male suspects shot Basco and Claros in Purok 5, Barangay San Vicente of the said town.

According to them, Claros was first hit on his left shoulder. Basco was about to run away when the men chased him and shot him.

The gunman also shot Egagamao.

They were immediately taken to the hospital, but Basco was declared dead on arrival. Egagamao also died a few hours later.

The suspects fled in an unspecified direction.

Police recovered four rounds of ammunition believed to be from a .45 caliber firearm, five fired bullets from a .45 caliber, and a 9mm caliber.

So far, the police are still investigating and ascertaining the motive for the shooting.

Woman shot dead in front of her child Davao del Sur

On Saturday night, a woman died in Matanao, Davao del Sur, after being shot by an unidentified assailant.

Matanao police identified the victim as Dorothy Bantilan, the encoder of the rural health unit in Matanao.

According to police, Bantilan was shot by a man while sitting outside a store in Barangay Poblacion and his son and some relatives.

The gunman quickly got on the motorcycle driven by the accomplice and fled.

It is said that the people around ignored the gunman, thinking that he would just buy at the store.

Matanao police are still investigating the motive for the shooting. Relatives of the victim have not been identified as a possible cause.

The victim’s child will undergo counseling after he witnessed the murder of his mother.
