However, Go has yet to determine how much incentives the president will give to Filipino SEA Games medalists.

President Duterte is also considering granting the Order of Lapu-Lapu to the winning athletes.

Duterte said it was an effort to raise the morale of the athletes despite the controversy surrounding the 30th Southeast Asian Games.

Under Republic Act No. 10699, or the National Athletes and Coaches Benefits and Incentives Act, gold medalists will receive P300,000, P150,000 for silver medalists, and P60,000 for bronze medalist.

It will be noted that in October alone, President Duterte gave one million pesos to gold medalist Carlos Yulo, Ernest Obiena (pole vault), and Nesthy Petecio (boxing) while silver medalist Eumir Marcial (boxing) and bronze medalist Diaz (weightlifting) received P500,000.

The SEA Games’ opening ceremony will be on November 30 at the Philippine Arena in Bulacan while the closing is on December 11 in New Clark City, Pampanga.
