President Rodrigo Duterte said on Thursday that Senator Bong Go wants to be president.
During his speech at the inauguration of a port building in Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental, Duterte said his former long-time aide asked him for a “favor” as they got off a plane.
“Sabi niya medyo it leaves a bad taste in the mouth, malayo pa e, pero ikaw na lang ang magsabi sa kanila,” Duterte said.
“Sabihin ko, ang totoo talaga, isang bagay lang, sabihin daw sa inyo, gusto niya maging Presidente.”
(He said it slightly leaves a bad taste in the mouth, it’s still far away, but be the one to tell them. I said, in truth, just one thing, he said to tell you that wants to be President.)
Bong Go just shook his head after Duterte’s remark.
He previously served in President Rodrigo Duterte’s Cabinet as the Special Assistant to the President (SAP) and Head of the Presidential Management Staff from June 2016 to October 2018. Bong Go has served as the personal aide and special assistant to Duterte since 1998, back when Duterte was still mayor of Davao City.

Meanwhile, some of the members of Duterte’s party want him to runs for vice president in the 2022 elections.
At least 20 members of Partido Demokratiko Pilipino – Lakas ng Bayan party have signed a resolution urging Duterte to run for vice president. They even changed their party’s logo and included Duterte’s iconic “iron fist.”
“It is recognized by leaders and members that with President Duterte’s steadfast leadership and the strong public support for his agenda of change, the government will be able to expeditiously and effectively deliver our people, our community, our economy, back to good health,” the PDP-Laban members said in a March 8 resolution obtained by Philstar.com.
