Alleged ‘dugo-dugo gang’ robs minor P1-M worth of jewelry

A minor was the victim of a dugo-dugo gang and P1-million worth of jewelry was taken from her, according to a report by Unang Balita on Thursday.

The 12-year-old victim, “Jenny”, was alone at home when she received a call saying that her father had an accident after he “beat the red light.”

The caller said that his father did not have enough money to pay for the collision and ordered her to take their safe box to Monumento, Caloocan.

From Pasig, Jenny went to the Monumento alone. When the perpetrator saw that there were no valuables inside the safe box, Jenny was allegedly sent home to retrieve their valuables such as jewelry and watches.

At a mall in Quezon City, the female suspect next met Jenny.

When the items were retrieved, Jenny was sent home and instructed to hang up their landline first so that the person who had an accident with her father would not disturb her.

It was about 6 pm when Jenny’s parents found out what had happened to her.

According to Jenny’s father, this was the first time her daughter had been left alone at home. Aside from work, he said he had to take his wife and their baby child to the doctor.

The family is said to be puzzled as to how the perpetrators found out their personal information as well as the time Jenny was alone at home.

“Natakot po ako at naiyak din po ako kasi na-guilty ako na na-scam ako. Yung mga pinaghirapan po ng parents ko nasayang din po,” said Jenny.

However, Jenny’s parents are thankful that nothing bad happened to her.

According to the police, this is not the first time that someone has reported to them about the dugo-dugo gang and that the victim is a minor.

Dugo-dugo gang is a group of con artists that call up a house and inform the person there, usually the maid, that their employer has figured in an accident and needs money to pay the hospital bills.
