Health Secretary Francisco Duque III announced at the Inter-Agency Task Force meeting Monday night that the total number of COVID-19 deaths in the National Capital Region has been declining in recent days.
According to Duque, the case fatality rate in NCR has dropped to 4.6 percent from 5.78 percent.
“Ang maganda naman pong nangyayari sa NCR ay malaki-laki po ang ibinaba ng case fatality rate nila. Bumagsak po ito ng mga 26 percent, from mga 5.78 to 4.6 percent,” he said.
The COVID-19 death rate was also 0.42 percent in patients aged up to 49, while it was 5.53 percent in those aged 50 to 80.
As a result, the DOH continues to push for the vaccination of all senior citizens in the country.
Meanwhile, the overall average daily attack rate (ADAR) per 100,000 population in the country and the two-week growth rate have also improved.

However, the DOH continues to monitor some areas that are experiencing an increase.
“Patuloy rin nating binabantayan Rng regions XI and VI na patuloy na tumataas ang kanilang ADAR. Ngunit nakikita natin na bumababa ang two-week growth rate ng Region XI at maliit lamang ang itinaas ng Region VI,” said Duque.
“Umakyat muli sa high risk ang CAR na may ADAR na 7.09 at TWGR na 10 percent.”
The DOH is also monitoring Regions 9, 6, 5, and Cordillera Autonomous Region when it comes to health care utilization rate if they have recorded high ICU occupancy.
According to vaccine czar Sec. Carlito Galvez Jr., some members of the National Task Force Against COVID-19, will once again visit some areas where high virus cases have been recorded.
They have already started going to Iloilo and Cebu.
“Bibisitahin namin sa susunod po ‘yung CDO, GenSan, Palawan, Zamboanga City, sa mga susunod po na araw. We will also discuss our updates on the variants of concerns on the region and the ongoing preparation to address this variant. And also our way forward on our pandemic response and massive vaccination,” said Galvez.
