Barangay chairman explains singing in videoke

The Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) is now investigating the viral video featuring a barangay chairman singing in videoke while not wearing a face mask at a birthday party.

According to DILG Undersecretary Martin Dino, Ric Corro, chairperson of Barangay Alicia in Quezon City, violated health protocols because he was caught wearing a face mask, attending a social gathering, and singing in videoke.

The video of Corro singing at a birthday party in Bulacan around 9:30 pm was even posted on Facebook.

According to Corro, he was encouraged to sing videoke by the people there and as an official, he did not refuse.

Saan naman kayo nakakita ng kumantang may mask?” the barangay chairman said.

A show-cause order has been sent to Corro to explain, said DILG Spokesperson Jonathan Malaya.

Malaya also called on local officials not to violate health protocols.

Farmers will suffer from rice tariff cut: Drilon

Sen. Franklin Drilon believes that the farmers will have a hard time with President Rodrigo Duterte’s decision to temporarily cut the tariff on rice imported abroad.

Drilon is one of five senators who are urging Duterte to revoke his order on rice tariff cuts.
