More than 30 women were rescued by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) in a series of operations at hidden spas and home massage services that allegedly serve as the front of prostitution.
The NBI special action unit (SAU) entered a house in Scout Chuatoco, Quezon City. Seen inside is the built reception area where the women are introduced.
Rooms are also located there where they are brought along with clients. They were surprised by the number of customers.
“Almost 30 na victims. Yung daily sheet nila, lumalabas na 80 to 94 clients per day despite the pandemic situation sa Manila,” said Kristine dela Cruz, executive officer of NBI-SAU.
According to the female victims, they have no other job since the pandemic, so they accepted the offer even though it was illegal.
“Nung nakausap namin sila, galing sa clubs sila sa Quezon Avenue na nagsara. Naghanap sila ng paraan para kumita at dito sila napunta,” said Dela Cruz.
Meanwhile, during an entrapment operation in Las Piñas, the NBI anti-human trafficking division rescued the women in a motel.
They pretend to be legitimate masseuses on social media, but in reality, they offer “extra service.”

“Pareho silang high-risk dahil hindi nila alam na puwede silang [mahawa ng] COVID-19 pati sa STD,” said NBI-AHTRAD chief Janet Francisco.
The rescued women have been brought to the DSWD.
The pimps and operators of the spa were charged with human trafficking.
Last week, National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) personnel also rescued 15 female masseuses who allegedly offered “extra service” to their clients in Manila.
It is said that the women are masseuses who offer “door-to-door” services but end up in prostitution because of the “extra service” offer.
The NBI is already conducting “backtracking” on others behind such a modus operandi which is extremely dangerous due to the risk of COVID-19 infection now that there is a pandemic.
“Matagal na itong ginagawa, itong facilitator na ito, at dahil dito ay kakasuhan namin siya ng violation ng anti-human trafficking in relation doon sa cyber prevention act dahil nga ‘yung pag o-offer nila ay ginagawa nila through Facebook or other social media platforms,” the NBI said.
