According to the contribution adjustment, from the previous 4%, its premium rate will be 5%.

However, PhilHealth President and CEO Emmanuel Ledesma Jr assured that they would comply immediately should Malacañang order to suspend or not continue the implementation of the contribution adjustment.

“Kailangan natin ng pondo para matugunan ang ating mga nasimulang magagandang pagbabago sa mga benepisyo ng PhilHealth,” he said.

“As provided for in Section 10 of Republic Act 11223, or the UHC Act, PhilHealth’s [to] implement the last adjustment of premium contributions for the five percent contribution rate and income ceiling of hundred thousand this year,” he went on.

PhilHealth initially said it plans to increase the coverage of its benefit packages for members by up to 30%.

According to Ledesma, the rise will affect members earning between P10,000 and P100,000 per month.

For individuals earning P10,000 or more, the new PhilHealth contribution would be P500.

The state insurer will deduct P500 to P5,000 from those earning P10,000.01 to P99,999.99 each month.

Those earning P100,000 will be required to donate P5,000 every month.
