Willie Ong thankful Isko chose him to be his VP

Doctor Willie Ong said he is thankful that Manila Mayor Isko Moreno chose him to be his vice-presidential candidate in the 2022 elections.

On Monday, Dr. Willie Ong posted his video statement on  regarding the “mix and match” issue while thanking his supporters. However, he said he would continue his candidacy.

“Focus lang ako sa kailangan kong gawin. Salamat kay Mayor Isko, pinili niya ako, nakatakbo tayo bilang vice president, pero ngayon nasa akin na ‘yung bola eh. So tuluy-tuloy tayo hanggang May 9, walang atrasan ito,” he said.

“Wala namang magbabago… eye on the ball ako eh. Kailangan kong manalo kasi kailangan kong maibigay ‘yung tulong sa mahihirap, sa gamutan, sa pagkain.”

He also said he had no anger in his heart because it would not help. It will be recalled that Ong is in fourth place when it comes to the VP preference of Filipinos in the January Pulse Asia survey, after getting 5%.

Netizens couldn’t help but feel sorry for Doc Willie for what was happening, especially since Isko Moreno allegedly left his partner on the air.

“Parang nalungkot ako for Doc Willie Ong. ????????????,” said comedian and talent manager Ogie Diaz yesterday while posting a photo of Domagoso riding in a car with an Isko-Sara poster.

Meanwhile, Domagoso insisted that Dr. Willie Ong is still his vice-presidential partner-even though he campaigned in Mindanao with those promoting the Isko-Sara Duterte tandem.

“Ako po, Isko-Doc Willie. Period,” Domagoso clarified in an interview with the media, Tuesday.

“‘Yung mga organisasyon na kanya-kanya… as a candidate hindi naman natin mapipigilan ang mga choices ninyo [na iboto ang hindi magkapartido sa highest positions] kasi hindi naman tayo two-party system katulad ng Estados Unidos na kapag binoto ang presidente, panalo na ang vice president.”

Willie Tan Ong is a Filipino cardiologist, media personality, and politician who rose to prominence for giving medical advice through his Facebook page with a large following and his YouTube channel.

Ong launched a bid to get elected as a Senator in the 2019 Philippine elections. His electoral campaign focused on health issues, particularly on providing a “holistic approach to providing total health care,” leveraging on him being the “only doctor running for the Senate.”
