Who is the next PCOO head Trixie Cruz Angeles?

The Marcos camp announced that vlogger and attorney Trixie Cruz Angeles will serve as press secretary and PCOO director. According to incoming ES Vic Rodriguez, Marcos will not have a presidential spokesperson, therefore Angeles would serve as the “face of press briefings.”

Angeles, whose Facebook and YouTube pages are titled ‘Luminous,’ states, “it’s with humility that I accept the nomination and assume the responsibility of running the affairs of the PCOO.”

In 2016, the Supreme Court (SC) has suspended Trixie Cruz Angeles for three years due to a 2003 complaint filed against her in controversial cases involving expelled members of the Iglesia ni Cristo (INC).

On August 9, 2016, the Supreme Court suspended Angeles and co-respondent Wylie Paner for violating articles of the Code of Professional Responsibility in the annulment case of petitioner Cleo Dongga-as.

Dongga-as stated in his complaint that he paid P350,000 to retain the services of the attorneys.

When Dongga-as wanted a refund, Angeles and Paler, according to Dongga-as, refused to repay the funds. He stated that the two attorneys also gave him two invoices totaling P45,000 for “consultants.”

This prompted Dongga-as to submit a complaint with the Committee on Bar Discipline of the Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP).

“I will not argue the merits of my case, though I strongly believe I was not accorded due process. However, I am an officer of the court and subject to its disciplines. I am also subject to the legal system. And I believe in that system. Even if it fails individuals, I do not believe that it fails society. Though it can stand improvement, there is no better way yet,” she wrote at the time.

Trixi Cruz Angeles served as Faeldon’s lawyer. Faeldon was a former Marine captain and Oakwood mutineer. She was also a member of the late Chief Justice Renato Corona’s legal team during his 2012 impeachment trial.

She defended former INC evangelical worker Lowell Menorca II, who claimed senior leaders of organizing his abduction and illegal incarceration in order to coerce him into exposing church members who were critical of the organization.
