Voter registration will resume starting October 11

After paying attention to the filing of the certificate of candidacy, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) will return to voter registration starting Monday, October 11.

It will be recalled that voter registration was extended until October 30 due to widespread calls. Many have not yet registered due to COVID-19 restrictions.

Among the beneficiaries is Regine Jimpinan, from Quezon City, who said on Monday that she would go to the Comelec to vote next year.

He said he has been too busy in recent months, and they also did not have a permanent address then.

“Feeling ko this is the big chance para makapag-register sa national elections,” said Jusayan.

He said presidential aspirants who filed the COC last week persuaded him to register.

According to Comelec Spokesperson James Jimenez, everything done with regular registration can also be done with extension.

He said he could register as a first-time voter, react to those who did not vote in the last two elections, transfer, and correct and change the name.

For those going to the Comelec, it would be better to first look online at the rules implemented in the local office, Jimenez said.

The Comelec will add a registration venue, including other malls, to better accommodate the expected influx of registration applicants.

To expedite the process, the Comelec advises that before heading to the registration site, fill out the application form found at comelec.gov.ph or irehistro.comelec.gov.ph.

When going to the registration venue, please bring a valid ID and a photocopy of it.

There is no requirement to be vaccinated or negative on the COVID-19 test.

According to the Comelec, an estimated 300,000 to 350,000 will be able to catch up with the registration.

Jimenez also pleaded not to wait until October 30 before registering.

For overseas voters, overseas voter registration at Philippine embassies and consulates has been extended until Thursday, October 14.

Voter registration has been suspended in areas under enhanced community quarantine.

The Comelec also insisted that this be the final extension of registration.
