Vlogger ‘Boy Mura’ arrested in Baguio for cyber libel

The Manila Police District and Baguio City Police arrested controversial pro-Duterte vlogger Niño Barzaga also known as “Boy Mura” in Baguio City, for a cyber libel case.

According to the Manila Police District (MPD), the arrest took place on June 23 at a house in Brgy. In effect, Lourdes Ext., Baguio City, issued the arrest warrant issued by Judge Trese Wenceslao of Cabanatuan RTC Branch 28 for 3 libel cases in 2018.

In the video released by Police Lt. Col. Rosalino Ibay Jr. of the MPD Special Mayor’s Action Team, Barzaga can be seen admitting that he was assigned to discredit Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso.

One of Barzaga’s most recent topics in his vlog on June 4 was Moreno, where he said the mayor was arrogant, conceited, and trashy.

Barzaga also released a music video on the blog against Moreno.

But in a video after the arrest, Barzaga admitted that he was only ordered to discredit Moreno.

He even called the person who allegedly supplied him with tarpaulins and information for the next victims on his vlog.

Known as “Boy Mura,” some of Barzaga’s other victims were Raffy Tulfo, Gabriela Representative Arlene Brosas, and Sen. Manny Pacquiao.

Barzaga slapped Pacquiao on his alleged plan to run for the presidency, but the vlogger did not directly admit if he was also assigned to humiliate the senator.

Brosas, on the other hand, complained to Barzaga for the alleged “emotional and sexual harassment” he did to her. He allegedly pretended to be Bishop Teodoro Bacani to Brosas on the phone and suddenly cursed the legislator.

“What he did to me is not a mere practical joke, but emotional and sexual harassment. This is a serious criminal offense, and we will file a formal case soon,” Brosas said in a video he posted on Gabriela’s Facebook account.

Even columnist Ellen Tordesillas fell victim to “Boy Mura,” who also pretended to be Bishop Bacani.

It is not yet clear whether Barzaga is in the custody of the Baguio City Police or has been transferred to the MPD.
