Vaccination mishap in Makati under probe

The Department of Health (DOH) is now investigating the incident in a viral video in which the nurse failed to administer a vaccine, even though it had been injected into the vaccinee’s arm.

Last weekend the video spread, but ABS-CBN News failed to determine who it was and the LGU’s origin.

But on Monday, Makati Mayor Abby Binay herself admitted that it happened at one of their vaccination centers on Friday.

On Saturday, the vaccinated woman went to their office to show the video, and she was vaccinated again.

Binay said the frontliner was not aware that the vaccine had not been injected.

“Tao lang ang ating frontliners. Napapagod sila. Nagkakamali. Ang mahalaga, naayos agad ang pagkakamali. Humingi sya ng patawad at siya naman ay pinatawad… Mahigit isang taon nang nagtatrabaho ang ating frontliners at sa totoo lang napakahirap kumuha ng vaccinators ngayon,” said the mayor.

The DOH is also investigating the possible breach of the vaccination protocol.

“It can be attributed to an honest error on the part na nakalimutan itusok ‘yung karga… But this certainly warrants further investigation,” said DOH Secretary Francisco Duque III.

The DOH also reminded vaccinators to be careful when vaccinating.

Duque also said that when vaccinating, check the syringe that was inserted into the arm to see if it has run out of load.

According to data from the government, more than 10 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been injected in the Philippines.

More than 2.5 million individuals have been fully vaccinated or received 2 doses, while more than 7.5 million have been injected with the first dose.

According to the National Task Force (NTF) Against COVID-19, vaccination against COVID-19 is accelerating in the Philippines, now averaging 250,000 doses per day.

According to the NTF, as long as all the COVID-19 vaccine doses purchased by the government arrive in the country this year, they are confident that up to 70 million individuals can be vaccinated before the end of 2021 to achieve herd immunity.

The government is said to be targeting 10 million COVID-19 vaccine doses in the month of July.
