Trillanes blocks Neri Colmenares’ inclusion on Robredo slate
Former Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV has unequivocally admitted that he was the one who opposed the inclusion of Makabayan chair Neri Colmenares on the Senate slate of presidential aspirant Vice President Leni Robredo.
“Definitely, it’s true that I was the one who opposed his entry primarily for the fact that the Makabayan bloc has yet to openly support and endorse the candidacy of Robredo,” said Trillanes.
Trillanes’ confession was triggered by a heated confrontation on social media between supporters of the Makabayan bloc and Robredo’s supporters.
Colmenares clarified that they have not yet received any invitation from Robredo’s camp even though he is one of the options for the last vacant seat on the Senate slate.
Colmenares, on the other hand, called on the supporters to stop the clash first.
“We told, at least those members of Makabayan, to tone it down because we need to unify the opposition… And this kind of atmosphere is not conducive to that,” said Neri Colmenares.
Robredo’s camp has not yet announced who else will enter their magic 12.
Last week, the camp of presidential candidate Senator Manny Pacquiao announced his senatorial state, including Colmenares.
