Tricycle driver shot dead after pointing gun to police in Sorsogon

A tricycle driver was shot dead after he pointed a gun to a policeman along the national highway at Brgy. Suculan in Sorsogon City, Sorsogon.

The driver identified as Wilfredo Docog, a resident of Brgy. Salog, Sorsogon was taken to the hospital but was declared dead due to severe injuries.

The police, Cpl. Norman Mark Mabal Espaldon, a member of 1st Provincial Mobile Force Company, who shot the driver, was now under the custody of Sorsogon Police

According to reports, at around 12:45 a.m., the Docog was driving his tricycle but suddenly stopped at the side road because of unknown reasons. This prompted the police, Cpl. Norman Mark Mabal Espaldon to confront the driver.

According to Espaldon, the tricycle driver suddenly pulled out a gun and pointed it to the police, causing them to struggle.

Espaldon managed to reach for his service firearm and shot the driver multiple times, which instantly killed the driver at the scene.

Sorsogon police were still investigating why the trike driver pointed a gun to the policeman. Authorities have not confirmed yet what case the police would face for killing the driver.
