Train hits van in Camarines Sur: child, teacher dead

Two were killed while 17 were injured after a Philippine National Railways (PNR) train crashed and dragged a UV Express van to crossing in Brgy Camambugan, Libmanan, Camarines Sur, noon.

Victims Jaime Victor Olarte, 12 years old, and Glenda Ravago, a teacher, were dead-on-the-spot. The two were residents of Brgy. Impig, Sipocot.

The 17 injured van passengers, including the driver Danilo del Mundo Diokno, were rushed to Libmanan District Hospital.

In a report by Staff / Sgt. Emy Rose Organis, a spokesman for the Libmanan Police, the van (temporary plate 053210) was on its way to Naga City from Sipocot at around 11:50 am.

However, when the van came to the railroad crossing, the incoming train hits the van’s left and rear part.

The van flew 15 meters due to the force of the collision.

Olarte and Ravago, who were seated at the rear of the van, died on the spot.

Students on their way to Christmas party hurt in Mandaue City accident

Three people were wounded when a van collided with a military truck in an accident in Mandaue City.

Students and their parents were on their way to a Christmas party in a van when the accident happened at 6:30 a.m. Friday, December 20.

The collision’s force caused the van to overturn.

The driver of the van, Romero Aurellos, 51, was taken to the hospital while two students on board were also injured in the Mandaue city road accident.

In the initial investigation of Mabolo police, both drivers were driving fast.

According to Police Staff Sargeant Mark Lester Calib-og, traffic police, the military truck was driven by Staff Sargeant Andres Rumbines, who tried to stop the vehicle but hit the rear end of the van.

The military truck had a troop of soldiers assigned to the Basilica Minore del Santo Niño to guard the security at the Misa de Gallo and to return to Camp Lapulapu in Barangay Apas.
