A traffic enforcer apprehended and blocked a taxi that was supposed to take a patient to a hospital in San Mateo, Rizal, Unang Balita, reported Monday.
The incident was caught on video and went viral on social media.
According to the video uploader, they would have rushed Inigo Magno to the hospital because he could not breathe. They called for an ambulance, but it did not arrive, so they were forced to take a taxi.
When they finally grabbed a taxi, the traffic enforcer stopped it. The enforcer said the taxi driver suddenly u-turned to the wrong place.
The driver and the uploader defended that he did it to get Magno immediately and rush him to the hospital.
In another video, Magno was seen having difficulty in breathing. The argument among the uploader, driver, and the traffic enforcer lasted for about an hour.
“Sir pasyente namin, sir, hindi makahinga yan. (He is our patient, sir, he cannot breathe.)” said the woman who accompanied Magno as she explained the emergency to the traffic enforcer.
However, the enforcer stood firmly on his argument and still did not allow the taxi to leave. He instead called another ambulance to get Magno to the hospital.
After a few days in the hospital, Magno died.
