Productivity can be difficult sometimes, especially when you aren’t setting goals and planning ahead.
Thanks to smartphones, we’re able to use apps to plan our goals and tasks, which can make working toward and achieving them much easier and more rewarding.
We’ll be covering the app Strides, which helps you plan, track, and achieve your goals, and provides a dashboard that lets you view your progress at a glance.
Features of Strides
Strides is packed with a lot of features, but none of them are even slightly overwhelming, and they are laid out in an easy to use fashion.
Here are a few of the main features that you’ll be interacting with the most.
Dashboard
The Dashboard is where you’ll view all of your current goals and habits, and the progress you have made with each of them. They are laid out in an ordered list, with an indicator on the left side to indicate their priority.
On the right side of each goal, your progress will be displayed and differs depending on the scale and time frame of each target. You can also move your habits around the Dashboard to organise as you see fit.
Setting Goals
Setting goals with Strides is straightforward. It requires you to follow a three-step process, or you could pick one of the pre-existing tracker templates.
You can then fill out the details on these blank templates, and begin tracking your goals right away.
Charts
The Charts feature consists of progress bars that display the progress you’ve made with a particular goal or habit. This helps you to stay on track and includes charts like success rates, calendars, and streaks.
Daily Goals
Strides allows you to set daily goals that you’ll need to achieve each day. You are able to prioritize these goals in accordance with your progress by adding tags via the Dashboard.
Templates
There are over 150 goal-tracking templates to choose from, but if you’d instead make one yourself, you can do so entirely from scratch.
Reminders
We all know that old habits die hard, and new ones are difficult to adopt, which is why Strides will notify you of your current habit goals so that you don’t slip up or relapse.
General Tips
When using Strides, or any goal-tracking app for that matter, it’s essential to set reasonable goals that you know you are capable of achieving.
Strides lets you set daily, weekly, and monthly goals, so be sure to take advantage of this and set goals in each category.
Try not to set too many daily goals, though, or you might go crazy with the number of notifications you’ll receive.
While the Dashboard does provide all of your basic stats in one place, it’s helpful to open up each goal now and then to view a statistical representation of your progress.
Who is Strides For?
There’s really no single type of person that could find Strides useful. The app has templates with pre-made goals already, for folks who are looking for some structure in their lives but don’t know where to start.
You also have the option of creating your own templates for those who know what they want to achieve and want a way to record and track their progress. Strides is really one of the most versatile apps out there.
Best Uses and iOS/Android Compatibility
Strides can be used for goals of any type and any time frame. The progress counter for each of your goals will vary depending on the kind of goal you have set. For example, if you set a tracker for a target weight, your current weight will be displayed next to your goal weight.
Try to take advantage of the Daily, Weekly, and Monthly goals, to feel more accomplished overall.
Currently, Strides is only available for iOS, but there is a web client for folks who have an Android device, or who want to use it on their desktop computer.

Downloading Strides costs you nothing, and neither does using the app.
