Toni Gonzaga resigns as PBB host after endorsing BBM, Marcoleta

Multimedia artist Toni Gonzaga confirmed that she would no longer serve as the main host of the reality show “Pinoy Big Brother” (PBB).

This came after Gonzaga hosted and endorsed the UniTeam, which included the lawmaker who led her home network ABS-CBN’s broadcast shutdown in 2020.

During the grand proclamation of the UniTeam led by Bongbong Marcos (BBM) and Sara Duterte, Toni Gonzaga gave a hearty introduction to Marcos-allied senatorial candidate Rodante Marcoleta.

Marcoleta was one of the lawmakers who rejected ABS-CBN’s franchise renewal application in 2020.

“It has been my greatest honor to host ‘PBB’ for 16 years,” she said.

More popularly known by its abbreviated title PBB, Pinoy Big Brother is the Philippine version of the Big Brother reality game show franchise. The word Pinoy in the title is a colloquial term for the Filipino people.

The show first aired on August 21, 2005, on ABS-CBN, Studio 23 (now S+A), and its international channel, TFC, in various countries worldwide. The show’s original hosts were Willie Revillame, Toni Gonzaga, and Mariel Rodriguez.
