The circumcision of a 13-year-old boy ended in tragedy after he died due to alleged blood loss after his circumcision in Lucena City in Quezon province.

According to the boy’s grandfather, his grandson was circumcised during a medical mission conducted by the Scout Royal Brotherhood Fraternity in Zaballero, Lucena City, on March 19.

But the bleeding in the child’s circumcision did not stop until he was rushed to the hospital on March 21. But the next day, he passed away.

In the victim’s death certificate, it was stated that the child had bled and was killed.

The victim’s family approached the Volunteers Against Crime and Corruption and Public Attorneys Office to bring justice to the child’s plight.

They believe that there was negligence on the part of those who performed the medical mission and circumcision.

The victim’s body will also be subjected to an autopsy by the PAO Forensic Team.

On the other hand, PAO Chief Atty Persida Acosta said that there may have been malpractice and negligence in what happened to the child. She said those behind the free circumcision did not even check the victim’s condition.

She said this incident should also serve as a lesson to those who will carry out the medical mission that there should be a screening of patients before performing the procedure.

Palace warns vs. vote-buying, vote-selling

There are commensurate penalties for buying and selling votes, Malacañang warned the public.

According to acting Deputy Presidential Spokesperson and Communications Undersecretary Michel Kristian Ablan, the Omnibus Election Code prohibits vote-buying and vote-selling.

“The Palace reminds the Filipino people that vote-buying and vote-selling are prohibited acts under the Omnibus Election Code,” said Ablan.

“Anyone found guilty of these prohibited acts under the Omnibus Election Code [will] face penalties of imprisonment and fine,” Ablan added.

Ablan also reminded the public to continue adhering to minimum public health standards as the pandemic has not yet been declared.

“Kumpiyansa kaming mananatiling maging alerto ang ating mga kababayan sa pagsisimula ng local election campaign period,” said Ablan.
