According to Hermosa Police Community Precinct Commander Police Major Joseph Jimenez, the men tried to flee to Manila on Rizal Avenue, but the victim asked the police for help.

CCTV footage of Barangay 187 showed the Manila Police District SWAT Team blocking the southbound lane of Rizal Avenue to prevent the men from escaping.

The operatives fired at them once, causing the alleged riding-in-tandem to fall on the motorcycle they were riding.
