SUV owner in Mandaluyong hit and run identified – LTO

The Land Transportation Office-National Capital Region (LTO-NCR) has issued a show-cause order against the owner of the SUV that was caught-cam that hit and run with a guard directing traffic in Mandaluyong City on Sunday.

In an interview with Super Radyo dzBB, LTO-NCR Regional Director Atty. Clarence Guinto said the hearing is set for June 7, Tuesday.

“We scheduled the hearing this week, and hopefully the driver and the owner would appear in the hearing. We are, of course, observing due process, ‘yung notice of hearing,” said Guinto.

The victim, Christian Joseph Floralde, is recovering in the hospital due to his injuries.

Earlier, Mandaluyong Police identified the vehicle as a White Toyota RAV 4 with license plate NCO 3781.

“May isang high resolution video cam na na-identify ‘yung plate number so we were able to get the details in our system ng kung sino ang may-ari ng motor vehicle na ‘yun,” said Guinto.

The LTO did not yet know if the vehicle owner was also driving when the incident occurred.

But he did not specify its identity because of the Data Privacy law. However, according to the Philippine National Police (PNP), the SUV owner has sent surrender feeler.

“Meron na kaming pangalan at saka address. Nakipag-ugnayan na ‘yung lawyer ng owner [ng SUV],”  Police Major General Valeriano de Leon confirmed in a phone interview with GMA News Online.

De Leon added that the suspect might be charged with physical injury resulting in reckless imprudence.

“Sa pagtingin ko nung napanood ko itong nag-trending sa social media, ay mayroong mga aggravating circumstance considering na nadisgrasya mo na nga ‘yung biktima at iyo pang tinakbuhan,” he added.

The hit and run incident occurred around 4 p.m. this Sunday at the intersection of Julio Vargas Avenue and St. Francis Street in Mandaluyong.

In the dashcam shot, guard Floralde can be seen stopping a white SUV, but instead of stopping, it hit him.

Instead of getting off the SUV, the driver ran over the lying victim.

According to the guard’s partner, Arceli Flores, Floralde had difficulty breathing due to the injury sustained to the middle part of his body.
