Suspect on Jovelyn Galleno rape-slay case released on bail

The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) has entered the case of 22-year-old Jovelyn Galleno, who police in Palawan say was raped and killed by her own cousin. One of the suspects was released after posting bail.

In the previous episode of “Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho,” it was said that the suspect, Leobert Dasmariñas, was granted bail.

Dasmariñas and his family refused to give a statement.

Police say Dasmariñas is the one who confessed to the crime and pointed to the location of Jovelyn’s remains in Barangay Pulang Bato in Puerto Princesa. Here the skeletons and belongings of the victim, who had been missing for more than two weeks, were found.

The authorities allegedly obtained the information after Dasmariñas stabbed his cousin, Jovert Valdestamon after they had a heated argument.

In the “KMJS” report, Valdestamon insisted that he had nothing to do with the crime and that he would prove his innocence in court.

It was also learned that Jovelyn’s family did not immediately decide and file a complaint against the suspects, who are their relatives.

But in the end, Jovelyn’s mother, Jelyn, also decided to give justice to her daughter. This is even though they went to the NBI to conduct another DNA test on the skeleton to confirm if it is indeed the girl’s remains.

The NBI assured that they will thoroughly examine the remains to find out the truth.
