Suspect in killing New Zealander surrenders

The alleged shooter of a New Zealander surrendered to the authorities in Makati City on Sunday, February 19.

In a report from Unang Balita this Friday, the suspect insisted that he had nothing to do with the crime because he was at home when Nicholas Peter Stacey was shot.

In an exclusive report by John Consulta, it was said that the suspect, John Mhar Manalo, surrendered to the Southern Police District (SPD) at around one in the morning this Friday.

Three witnesses point to Manalo as the one who shot and killed Stacey.

The crime allegedly happened on Sunday morning in Brgy. Palanan, while the victim was with his Filipina girlfriend.

Based on the Filipina’s testimony, she and the victim were walking when two assailants on a motorcycle suddenly arrived.

It is said that the rider got off and pointed a gun at them at the same time as declaring a holdup. It is said that Stacey tried to grab the assailant’s gun and that’s when he was shot, causing his death.

The victim sustained a bullet wound in the chest, according to the NCRPO.

It is said that the assailants escaped and headed toward Pasay City, taking away the victim’s cell phone and wallet.

In the GMA Integrated News interview with Manalo, it was said that he surrendered to clear his name.

He insisted he had nothing to do with Stacey’s murder. He said he was at home and had just woken up when the crime happened.

According to the SPD, there is a process going through their gathering of evidence to give justice to the murder of the foreigner.

It is said that the search for a suspect who drove the motorcycle that Manalo was riding and another person with him is continuing.

Meanwhile, the Bureau of Immigration (BI) reported the arrest of an  pedophile  wanted by authorities in Wisconsin for sexually molesting a  nearly two decades ago.

In a statement, Immigration Commissioner Norman Tansingco identified the fugitive as Francisco Gomez, 62, who was arrested in Ermita, Manila last February 9 by operatives from the Bureau’s Fugitive Search Unit (FSU).
