PUP student killed in hit-and-run in Caloocan

A student died on the spot in a hit-and-run at Langit Road in North Caloocan around 10:30 p.m. Tuesday.

The victim was identified as Jimmy Santiago III, 21, a student of the Polytechnic University of the Philippines.

Based on the initial investigation by the Caloocan Police, Santiago bought milk tea from a store that he was supposed to bring to his family.

CCTV footage showed the victim tilting while driving his motorcycle, at the same time as a tricycle overtook another tricycle near the lane where the victim was.

Police added that it is also suspicious that the overtaken tricycle on its way to Phase 2 in Barangay Bagong Silang did not stop.

The driver of the tricycle is still being sought to clarify the incident.


Taytay opens vaccination sites to non-residents.

Pfizer is reserved for SM Taytay and Taytay Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facility.

Those looking for a second dose of Sinovac can head to San Juan Gym from 9 a.m. to 12 noon.

This is a first-come, first-served basis, and all you have to do is bring a photocopy of a valid ID and download a QR code on Taytay Trail.

For children who will be vaccinated, it is also necessary to bring a copy of the ID of the accompanying guardian to the center.

The local government also reminds the public to wear a face mask, bring their ballpoint pen, and if they have symptoms such as cough, cold, fever, or headache, do not proceed because they will not be vaccinated either.

Today is the third and final day of the government’s national COVID-19 vaccination days, where they plan to vaccinate nine million Filipinos.

According to the Taytay Municipal Health Office, they have vaccinated 13,281 individuals in the last two days.
