Vaccination using Sputnik V, the COVID-19 vaccines from Russia, began this Tuesday in some cities in Metro Manila.
In Parañaque, the queue of vaccine receivers at Ayala Malls Manila Bay is longer than usual.
The queue reached 2 floors of the mall, which included health workers, senior citizens, and those with comorbidity and other illnesses.
One of the first to be vaccinated was health emergency rescuer Regulus Palma.
It is said that the feeling is a bit heavy after the injection of Sputnik V but such adverse effects are normal.
For vaccine czar Carlito Galvez, the long queue in Parañaque proves that confidence in COVID-19 vaccines is rising.
In an interview with Teleradyo, Parañaque Mayor Edwin Olivarez said that there is a substitute ready for those who cannot attend the vaccination.
About 1,000 to 1,500 Parañaque residents are targeted to be vaccinated this Tuesday, the mayor said.
He said 3,000 doses of Sputnik V vaccines will not be consumed immediately because the vaccine is delicate and injections are scheduled.
In Taguig, 20 doses of Sputnik V for 20 vaccines included on the priority list arrived at the Lakeshore vaccination hub past 8:30 a.m.

Some of the first to be vaccinated were non-medical frontliners who were members of the Bureau of Fire Protection.
According to Dr. Jennifer Lou Lorico de Guzman, head of the Taguig immunization program, more people will be vaccinated with Sputnik V vaccines in the coming days.
In case someone backs out or does not pass the screening area, the local government has a plan in place.
Sputnik V vaccines have also been used in Makati City.
The Makati city government plans to build 30 vaccination sites when the bulk of the vaccines arrive to vaccinate 10,000 to 11,000 residents per day.
The 5 Metro Manila cities that received the vaccine from Russia also include Muntinlupa and Manila.
In Manila, vaccinations are on the rise at Santa Ana Hospital.
According to Vice Mayor Honey Lacuna-Pangan, medical frontliners will be the first to be given Sputnik V vaccines before other priority groups.
