Sinas: I’m qualified to be new PNP chief

Police General Debold Sinas insisted Wednesday that he is qualified to the new chief of the Philippine National Police (PNP) amid criticisms over his appointment.

During the Laging Handa press briefing, Sinas said he already served in various PNP offices, making him qualified to be the new PNP chief.

The so-called “mañanita” cop said he would prove to his critics wrong. He would also prove that President Rodrigo Duterte’s decision to appoint as the nation’s top cop was right.

The new PNP chief is facing criminal and administrative complaints about his alleged quarantine violations at the height of a strict community quarantine.

Sinas already apologized for his supposed mañanita, claiming some photos of the gathering that went viral were edited and were taken from old posts.

In July, the next PNP chief was also involved in another controversy when he allegedly threatened a family of a retired cop to move out of their home within the campgrounds.

Sinas expressed confidence that the mañanita controversy would not affect his credibility to lead the PNP.
