According to Wilfredo Cabral, officer-in-charge of DepEd’s Office for the Undersecretary of Human Resources, Metro Manila is one of the regions that recently held face-to-face classes since Alert Level 2 was just lowered in the region in November.

On the other hand, Cabral assured that all schools participating in the face-to-face classes have gone through thorough preparations to ensure the safety of students and teachers against COVID-19.

It was learned that an additional 177 schools, including 28 public schools in Metro Manila, will participate in the pilot run of face-to-face classes this Monday.

In NCR, 2 schools each in Manila, Quezon City, Caloocan City, Mandaluyong City, Marikina City, Muntinlupa City, Navotas City, Parañaque City, Pasig City, Taguig City, Valenzuela City, and Las Piñas City are participating while one each in San Juan, Pasay, Malabon and Makati.

Pateros is the only locality in Metro Manila that did not participate in the pilot run.

Pilot testing of face-to-face classes began on Nov. 15 in selected areas with low risk or only low COVID-19 cases.

Of the 118 schools allowed, 100 are public schools, while 18 are private schools.

The PNP once again reminded the students as well as parents and other guards to follow minimum health protocols such as hand washing and especially the wearing of face masks.

Students who did not participate in the pilot run continue their education in their homes through distance learning.
