Sara Duterte will try to attend VP proclamation

Sara Duterte-Carpio, the presumed vice president and mayor of Davao City, would attempt to attend the Wednesday proclamation of the vice president-elect by Congress, according to her spokesperson, Mayor Christina Garcia Frasco of Liloan, Cebu.

Nonetheless, Frasco stated that Sara Duterte-Carpio was told of the likely proclamation date by the Lakas-CMD party’s legal counsel.

“She had earlier set a visit to the wake of a supporter in Antique who was depressed and bullied because of his political preferences and eventually committed suicide. Inday Sara also has meetings in Antique and Iloilo,” Frasco said.

“She will endeavor to attend the proclamation and exert her best efforts to make it on time to Manila. Thank you,” she added.

According to the partial and unofficial results released on the Commission on Elections (Comelec) transparency server, Duterte and her running mate for president, former Senator Bongbong Marcos, are on track for a landslide victory.

According to transparency server results as of May 11, Marcos had over 31.09 million votes, much outnumbering closest rival Vice President Leni Robredo’s 14.81 million votes.

Sara Duterte-Carpio received 31.55 million votes, far outnumbering Robredo’s running mate, Sen. Francis Pangilinan, who received 9.230 million votes.

Earlier, Marcos’ spokesperson, attorney Vic Rodriguez, stated that the presumptive president would attend the proclamation.

Marcos and Duterte-Carpio would be the second tandem to win the country’s two highest government seats.

In 2004, Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, who succeeded Joseph Estrada as president after being deposed by people power in 2001, won with then-ABS-CBN broadcaster Noli de Castro.
