Sara Duterte thanks Bong Go

Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte thanked Sen. Christopher “Bong” Go for responding to the call for President Rodrigo Duterte’s supporters to unite.

Although and did not explicitly mention Go’s name, Sara said she was grateful, and it listened to her request.

“I am thankful for your heeding my request,” said Sara Duterte.

After she launched her candidacy for vice president of the country, Sara said that she called on all those who support the Duterte administration to unite in a mission to continue the good started by her father.

Sara Duterte even reiterated Go’s statement that he would withdraw his candidacy for the unity of their leaders and supporters.

Although Go has already announced that he will no longer run for president, he has not yet formally filed for withdrawal of his candidacy.

Due to Go’s resignation, the PDP-Laban lost a presidential candidate where Duterte sits as chairman of their faction.

It is still unclear who Duterte will support for the presidency after Go resigns.

Last week, senator announced his withdrawal of candidacy for president in the 2022 elections.

According to Go, he was overwhelmed by his candidacy, emphasizing he was not ready. He said he prepared to run for vice-president but not as president.

“In span of  or days, lilipat ka sa isang posisyon. Yung ibang kandidato pinaghandaan all throughout the years. Ako po hindi ko po napaghandaan,” he said.

He said it was not his ambition to become a president, adding it would be hard to campaign if his heart and family resisted his candidacy.

Go said Duterte has yet to decide the candidate they would support in the 2022 elections.

Meanwhile, Aksyon Demoktratiko’s presidential bet and Manila City Isko Moreno will accept the possible endorsement by President Rodrigo Duterte after Go announced decision to withdraw.

“Hindi ako tatanggi. Ang pulubi, hindi nakakapamili,” said Moreno when asked about it.

He said he was honest from the very beginning that he needed help, allies, followers, and volunteers for his campaign.
