According to the Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting data, President Rodrigo Duterte’s daughter would “operate in peace” with running mate Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos, who received 31 million votes or 58.75 percent.

“The Vice President-elect Sara has indicated she would be interested in the Department of National Defense, and of course, she’s here to fully support the administration of President-elect Bongbong Marcos,” Liloan town mayor Christina Frasco told ANC’s Headstart.

Her spokesperson said Sara Duterte is a “very very organized and proactive person.”

“She comes up with proactive solutions. She’s not the type to complain but the type to act on problems,” Frasco said.

“Vice President-elect Sara Duterte has always stood firm on the decisions she has made and she values her independence both as a mayor and a person in politics.”

The former Davao City mayor has also “always put herself at the forefront of public relations to deliver directly to them the message they would like to convey,” Frasco said.

“Her preference has always been to go to the people,” she said.

Sara Duterte-Carpio stated she would fight for mandatory military duty for all Filipinos aged 18 and up in January.

“Gagamitin ko ang aking opisina (I will use my office) —Office of the Vice President—para kausapin ang ating (to talk to our) Congress, the House of Representatives and the Senate to make military service for all 18 years old, male and female, mandatory in our country,” she said.

According to Duterte-Carpio, countries such as South Korea and Israel have mandated military service for their citizens.

Unlike the Reserve Officers’ Instruction Corps (ROTC) offered in college, Duterte-Carpio stated that training for those enlisting in mandatory military service would not be limited to a single weekend or month.

“Hindi po ROTC lang na isang subject, isang weekend o isang buwan lang sa isang taon (It should not just be like ROTC where it’s just one subject or one weekend or a month in a year). Dapat lahat kapag tumuntong ng (Everyone, once you reach) 18 years old, you will be given a subsidy, you will be asked to serve the country,” Sara Duterte said.
