Roque wishes those spreading fake news will get COVID-19

Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque was outraged by those who spread fake news amid the pandemic and increasing number of Delta variants.

According to Roque, he thinks that the spread of fake news is deliberate. Hence, the people flocked to some vaccination centers in the National Capital Region for fear of not getting help or not being able to leave their homes during enhanced community quarantine (ECQ).

Roque wonders why COVID-19 has not yet hit those who do nothing sensible in life and spread fake news.

“Tingin ko po mayroon talagang nagpapakalat ng fake news. Mayroon talagang walang matinong ginagawa sa buhay nila. Ewan ko ba kung bakit hindi pa sila ma-COVID no,” said Roque.

Roque clarified several times that it is not true that there is no help available or that those who have not been vaccinated will not be able to leave the house.

He further advised the people to watch and listen to government communication entities not to fall prey to fake news.

Roque also assured that those on the ECQ would receive help even if they are not vaccinated.

Malacañang announced Monday that low-income families in Metro Manila would get P1,000 to P4,000 cash aid once the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) begins on August 6.

“Walang ECQ kung walang ayuda,”  Harry  said.

“Sigurado may ibibigay na P1,000 per person and maximum of P4,000 per family. Hindi pa lang sigurado saan kukunin,” he added.

The Department of Labor and Employment () also assured that they have assistance for workers affected by the ECQ.

Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III said they are ready to implement the 2-week ECQ because they still have aid funds left for informal and formal workers.
