Trading in the world market is only until Thursday because it is also a holiday in Singapore on Good Friday. Hence, there is a strong possibility of a price reduction again on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, the distribution of aid to some public transport drivers is still not continuing because the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) still does not have a copy of the decision of the Commission on Elections (Comelec).

Last week, the poll body approved the application for exemption filed by the LTFRB from the ban on the disbursement of public funds during the campaign.

However, the grant of the petition to LTFRB is subject to the strict implementation of the program by submission of information on how the project will be implemented, the parameters of implementation, and specially the specific target beneficiaries on how they will apply to avail of the grant of the programs,” Garcia explained.

However, the LTFRB will not be able to immediately start distributing aid until there is a copy of the Comelec’s decision.

Meanwhile, various groups staged a protest this Wednesday against the increase in electricity bills.

The Power 4 People group has accused Meralco and government officials of conspiring to keep electricity bills rising.

“Malinaw na ito’y pambubudol kasabwat ang mga opisyal ng gobyerno,” said Gerry Arances, convenor of Power 4 People.

On the other hand, Meralco denied that the increase in electricity bills was continuous because there was a reduction in January and February.

Meralco explained that the rate is even cheaper now than the charge before the pandemic or even in 2021.
