Rice price increases by P2 in some markets, Kadiwa

The rice price has increased by P2 in some markets, including the Kadiwa Stores of the Department of Agriculture (DA).

At Kadiwa Stores, rice is now P40 per kilo from P30.

There is no movement in the price of vegetables and other goods:

Ampalaya – P70 per kilo
Squash – P30 per kilo
Eggplant – P60 per kilo
Okra – P60 per kilo
Sweet potatoes – P60 per kilo
Chili – P70 per kilo
Calamansi – P100 per kilo
Tomatoes – P25 per kilo
Onions – P80 per kilo
Garlic – P105 per kilo

At the Commonwealth Market in Quezon City, the cheapest rice was also raised by P2.

It is said that the suppliers’ prices have also increased, so the vendors have no choice but to increase as well.

The price of rice increased at the Murphy Public Market in Quezon City.

According to seller Von Ocbeña, almost all types of rice they sell have increased by P2 per kilo due to a lack of supply.

In monitoring the Bantay Rice group, since January, the price of rice has been kicked up by P5.

Based on the surveillance of the DA this Wednesday in the markets in Metro Manila, the price of well-milled rice ranges from P39 to P46 per kilo.

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. did not believe there would be a rice crisis in the country, which the Federation first said of Free Farmers.

Headline inflation or the overall inflation in the  slowed down further to 7.6 percent in March 2023 om 8.6 percent in February 2023. Inflation rate in March 2022 was lower at 4.0 percent. The average inflation for the first quarter of 2023 stood at 8.3 percent.
