RFID complaints should be addressed by Feb. 26: Mayor Gatchalian

The business permit of North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) in Valenzuela City is in danger of being revoked if it will fail to take action this week on complaints regarding its RFID system.

“Hindi ako nananakot, pero ‘yung lifting natin is conditional in nature.

Ngayon sa crediting, to be fair about them, nag-upgrade sila ng sistema nila, ng app nila. Sabi nila kaya nilang i-debug ‘yung system hanggang bukas. So by tomorrow, dapat wala na kaming naririnig na complaint na nag-load ako pero late na-credit,” the mayors said.

Gatchalian insists he will not release it until NLEX perfects their system.

It will be recalled that in December last year, the city lifted its imposition of a suspension on NLEX business permits after it addressed some complaints regarding RFID.

“Mula Dec. 16 naka-barriers up kami so whether or not mabasa ‘yung RFID mo o hindi problema na ni NLEX ‘yun, tuloy-tuloy lang ‘yung mga motorista naming dumadaan. Wala na kaming bottleneck sa toll plaza namin, medyo nabawasan ‘yung traffic kasi through and through ‘yung traffic namin,” said Gatchalian.

He requested that the same system be implemented in other toll plazas outside Valenzuela.

Kaya naman pala,” he said.

Early this month, the Toll Regulatory Board (TRB) said it would implement the three-strike policy against  violators or motorists who do not pay enough toll fees starting February 22. But they would only do this if toll operators would first comply with the minimum operating standards.
